NPP Newsletter: NPP Takes Over Talen Energy Stadium for Sunday’s Philadelphia Union Game (Photos)
Hello all –
On a sun-splashed and wind-whipped Sunday along the Delaware River, thousands of fans attending the Philadelphia Union soccer match versus the New York Red Bulls had an opportunity to learn about the many positive attributes of nuclear power. Nuclear Powers Pennsylvania was the title sponsor of the game played at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester.
Two hours prior to the start of the match, Team NPP had a featured presence on the Toyota Plaza. Our ‘street team’ interacted with hundreds of fans, sharing facts and figures about the contributions of nuclear power across Pennsylvania.
With models of uranium pellets in tow, the NPP street team shared facts about the contributions of nuclear power in Pennsylvania – like that a single pellet of uranium fuel provides as much energy as 149 gallons of oil or one ton of coal!
The first 2,500 fans to enter Sunday’s game — which was also celebrated as Fan Appreciation Day — received traditional soccer scarves featuring the Nuclear Powers Pennsylvania logo – courtesy of NPP!
Nuclear Powers Pennsylvania was mentioned throughout the game and on signage inside the stadium, and we were particularly excited that the daughter of an employee at Talen Energy’s Susquehanna plant was given the honor of the “First Kick” to start the game!
Megean Brown, a senior emergency planning coordinator at Susquehanna Nuclear, and her 5-year-old daughter, Olivia, nailed the first kick at Talen Energy Stadium.
More than 100 employees from the Susquehanna, Limerick and Three Mile Island power plants and Kennett Square attended Sunday’s game as part of our celebration of nuclear power.
We will be sure to let you know about future NPP events and activities! In the meantime, please encourage family, friends and coworkers to join Nuclear Powers Pennsylvania by visiting https://www.nuclearpowerspennsylvania.com/
